Michael Bosanko - Light Tutorial

Michael Bosanko gives a tutorial on how to create light art.

Michael Bosanko - Video

Michael Bosanko has been recognised for his outstanding work, and his talents in light photography have been required for many commercials.
He has created commercials for Peugeot, Talk Talk, Orange and PS3.
Some of the adverts have obvious light photography and others not so much, but the light art really adds effect to the commercial. See for yourself as here are some of the videos :-)

Michael Bosanko

I am absolutely in love with Michael Bosanko's photography, not only does he create incredible light art pieces but he also creates beautiful photographs of objects or scenery which creates a photo that brings out emotion and truly beautiful picture. They are typical objects but the way he photographs them, shows them in a different light. Some of his photographs he has edited so the key parts stand out in colour.
Here are some of his photographs.

I love this photo because of the door being coloured and the rest in black and white, it really draws the eye in and makes what would be a dark picture, bright and some happiness in it.

Michael Bosanko's light art is amazing, here is one photo where hes created flowers out of lights, I find these pictures amazing and the vibrancy of the light really creates the picture.

Here is another incredible light art piece, it really changes the mood of the photo.

Not only does he create really amazing light art photographs, but also takes stunningly beautiful scenic images, I love this picture, in the way it has been captured and has a lovely free feel to it.

Here is another beutiful scenic photo.

His light art is incredible!

This is such a cool image and grabs your attention straight away.

Idea

For the last week I have been contemplating how to put my final piece together, I was undecided on how to put my images together in either a sequence or overlapping.
Finally I think I have an idea!*
I want to create a beautiful light image, maybe similar to ones that Michael Bosanko has created, and then over this I will have all my other images that will be slightly translucent overlapping the bottom layer image. The overlapping images will change throughout and some videos will be over the top, but the bottom layer will always stay the same.

*It could change! :)

Lights

I absolutely love the effect of the lights in this video and is something I would love to create towards my experimental video

Subject

I have decided I am going to have a range of subjects that will link throughout the video.
I feel that the topics I am going to use link somewhat to me as a person and also in some way links to other projects that I have worked on.
Topics;
Lights - In previous work I have used footage of lights but slowed the shutter speed or blurred the image which I feel gives a great effect and a very good visual image. I will want to use footage of lights in this video.
Time - Time is something that effects us all in the short term and long term, therefore I would like to somehow get across the idea of time in this video, I feel this topic will link well with my idea of change.
Change - I want to look at changes that we dont neccesarily notice day by day, therefore I will take pictures of an object everyday at the same time and see how it changes day by day.
Sound/Music - By choosing an experimental video, I can use any music and sounds that I want, I want to play with the music, changing the tempo and mixing it with different footage to see how it effects it.
Irritation - I will feature footage of things people find extremely irriating throughout life.
Weather - Weather is something that effects many people in life from the mood that they are in to crops growing etc, I want to somehow use footage of weather in my video.
Emotion - I want to portray different emotions but without using actors faces.

Experimental

Throughout many of my projects I always come back to wanting to make an experimental video, I love doing experimental videos because you are free to film and edit in a way that you want, anything can be included instead of being stuck to a brief. From all the videos I have created my favourite is still the experimental video I created when I was an ND student, I therefore have decided my FMP to create another experimental video where I am free to pick the topic and feature anything in my video.

Change

After continously thinking about my awareness video for my FMP, I have decided to change my subject for a number of reasons;
Constraints - I feel that the production will be relying heavily on other people for it to be successful, I will need several actors for the piece to go ahead and I feel that I cannot rely on my actors all being available at the same time for filming.
Subject - it is a very serious subject and I am worried my video may not portray all the reasons of why people may suffer from eating disorders, stress of looking a specific way etc.
Time - after taking into consideration all the other assignments that I am currently working on, I feel that this video may not have the best outcome as time is an issue, also with having to rely on actors being available, the time in which I can film and edit is pushed to the limit.

I have therefore decided for the best outcome of my work and to produce a video that I am pleased with, I will now change the subject of my FMP to something that will still have an idea throughout but will be completely reliant on me.
