An extract about how bullying and the media can lead to anorexia

Most teenage girls are very conscious of how they look. Since the media keeps on hyping that being thin is being beautiful, a lot of teenage girls are very concerned about the lingering baby fats.

Young girls’ bullying each other about their weight is very common. In many instances the girls bullying could drive their peers to desperation that they try to starve themselves to death just to become thin.
In their efforts to control their weight, many young girls all over the country suffer from eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa and bulimia. Both of these types of eating disorders are very harmful in the short and long run.

In many extreme cases, people who have eating disorders starve themselves to death. People who have anorexia nervosa are known to go around without food for several days. These people are quite obsessive about what they eat and they are always trying to get rid of every ounce of food that they eat through excessive exercising.
According to experts, anorexia nervosa is caused by the distorted imagine that a person has over his or her body. In most cases, peer pressure such as girls bullying each other about their weight just aggravates the situation
