Final Image

I have decided that the final image for this project needs to be something different to the other two main images, it needs to be something that seperates all the images out and gives them the right to stand on their own. The other two pictures have alot of imagery and sounds to go alongside them, I need a picture that is calm and relaxing. I have decided the best idea to break this up is to capture an image that resembles, relaxation, is bright in colour and pretty on the eye.
The first is an image that you cannot work out what it is straight away but with the sound effects it will bring the image out.
The second image is that of the train station, which has an eery/strange effect.
And finally the third image will be a pretty picture that can reflect relaxation and perfection in some peoples eyes.
Therefore combined these images can all relate to the secret world, that I have caught through photography and are all different from one another.

The Outcome

I have an idea for my final exhibition idea, it will consist of 4 large images all on A3 boards, the first image will be all my photographs from this whole project scaled down, and placed all together on the board, the second image will be of the motorway/ambulance image, the third will be the trainstation photograph and the fourth I am still yet to photograph as I am unsure of the subject I would like to capture. Whilst these photographs are shown the soundtrack will be played over the top for each individual photograph. The first image will not contain any sounds. I will only choose three large images as I feel if there are any more it will take away the visual and sound impact on the audience.

Secret World

My FMP will be the secret world of light. Within my tutorial we discussed different ideas in which I could exhibit my photos and the idea of the secret world of light was my favourite. I will use only a few photographs containting light art then work with the idea of the secret world behind the image.

The following image is where the idea originally came from and will be an image that I will be using in my final piece. When discussing the photo which was taken on the motorway that the blue light was actually an ambulance and this is when we found it fascinating that in 1 second of taking a photograph I managed to capture something that you would never be able to guess what it was. This then led to talking about the background story of the picture, the image holds many stories of different people travelling, the ambulance holds several stories behind the passengers on board, the staff, where they are going, what the emergency is etc.
I will get across this idea of the story in the secret world by using an overlay of many different sounds over an image, such as voices, medical talk, the noise of an ambulance, car engines, motorway noise etc.

Whats the final outcome?? Video montage or prints?

I was completely undecided on what I should do for my final outcome, I thought I wanted to create an experimental video containing photography and video, but the topics were abit to vague and I knew I wouldn't be happy with the final outcome therefore this became the main topic of conversation when I had a tutorial with my supervisor (Nic), we discussed many different outcomes from a video montage containing my light photography pictures, a layering of the photos, or some kind of print board, containing many photos that link.
We then looked through and discussed my pictures, looking at the technique and how I managed to create some of the images, this led us to actually imagining the images as an unknown world. The way I created some of the photo's is unexplainable, for example, the photograph of the trainstation below, if you look closely part of the image is blurred but the building has not moved, also the light has split making it look as though there are lights either side of the platform but there is not.
This became an interesting topic leading us to look through not only more of my images but also back to the artists I have researched previously noticing some of the light art looks somewhat like portals to 'another world'.
This is now helped me to progress with my idea for my final outcome.

The Northern Lights

The Northern Lights can be found in the Polar regions and are truly spectacular! The effect made by them looks like it has been enhanced but they are completely natural. They are known as the Aurora Borealis and it is a natural light display in the sky particularly in high latitude regions and is caused by the collision of energetic charged particles with atoms in the high altitude atmosphere. They are named after the Roman goddess of dawn (Aurora) and the Greek name for the North wind. Roman mythology says that Aurora is the goddess of dawn and renews herself every morning and flies across the sky, announcing the arrival of the Sun. Therefore a perfect name for the Northern Lights.

Trial with Smoke and Projector

I have booked out the photography studio, to give me a large blank space, which I can have in complete blackness. I will trial photographing light through smoke and a projector. This will create a cool effect on the light.

Light Reflection in Water

I would like to capture light reflection on water, I think it creates a lovely effect, and can create an effect on the light, distorting or blurring it slightly.

My Light Art

My Light Art - Lines

When moving the camera, the different lines and shapes you can make with the light creates a great picture and would be great to layer on top of each other.
